Bohemia, NY-- American Veterinary Supply Corp. ("AVSC") a veterinarian owned distributor of animal health products announced today that its Small Corporate Offering has been registered and approved in seven states New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Kansas and Missouri. AVSC is now clear to offer for sale common stock to veterinarians or veterinarian-owned entities in those states.
AVSC started operations in as a loosely organized buying cooperative and now regularly services approximately 1,500 veterinary accounts nationally that purchase over $18 million dollars of products. According to AVSCs President, Dr. Peter Welles, "Not all of AVSCs customers are shareholders but we are hopeful that will change. Over the years many of our customers expressed interest in becoming a shareholder but, for numerous reasons, our Board of Directors felt that AVSC was not positioned to properly service a large shareholder/customer base. We now have professional management, infrastructure, and the track record necessary to consistently meet veterinarian's needs for superior service, extensive product selection and reasonable pricing. AVSC has learned from the failure of other cooperatives and follows a strategy of fairness, simplicity and good business practices."
AVSC represents almost every manufacturer of companion animal health products, stocks almost 3,000 commonly used products and can readily deliver an equal number through special order. "AVSC provides a reliable, one-stop shopping service as exemplified by our low backorder rate of less than 2% on stock items" reports George S. Domino, CEO. "Our current objective is to further increase AVSCs purchasing power by giving more veterinarians the opportunity to become owners in the company. AVSC shareholders have demonstrated their willingness to support a company that is dedicated to satisfying their needs. We believe new shareholders will do the same. "
The price per share is $10.00 and the shares must be purchased in lots of 150 shares. The stock will not be publicly traded but the company has plans to create a mechanism for shareholders to trade their shares.
Any veterinarian that is interested in receiving a prospectus should contact the company or visit its website www.amvetsupply.com.
